First Breath
has been providing birth pool rentals in Guelph and Southern Ontario since November 2007. I
take special care in maintaining and sanitizing my pools properly. It
takes me over two and a half hours to clean a pool and prepare it for
the next woman. Even though each client uses a disposable liner I take
the sanitizing very seriously. I also test all equipment each time it
returns to ensure it's efficiency.
I offer heated birth
pools that have been designed specifically for labouring and giving birth in by Waterbirth
International, a project of Global Maternal/Child Health
Association. Waterbirth International has been helping women get in
water and educating caregivers since 1990 and doing an amazing job.
No worries about emptying cold water to refill with hot
which can be messy and very distracting to the mother. Fill the pool
with hot water and it stays hot for as long as you need it to! The pool
is big enough for the mother and her partner to assume any position she
might like to labour and birth in. It's hard sided (not inflatable) and foam insulated
which makes it strong enough to support the mother and her birth
attendants leaning on it with no worries and also really good at holding the heat.
The
$300 rental fee is all inclusive. The pool rental kit comes
with everything you need for a waterbirth because you have enough
to do when planning a baby! All you need are some towels.

free in Guelph only.
